AI has the potential both to do great good and also harm to society. The upside of AI may bring more efficiency and better healthcare, education, and security. On the downside, there is job loss, breaches of privacy, and reinforcement of decision-making with biases that may foster adverse consequences.
It also risks hacking or misuse into unscrupulous uses of surveillance or weaponized AI. A further concern is that AI-driven automation in warfare may inadvertently escalate conflicts.
Appropriate regulation, ethical considerations, and transparent AI development must be ensured so that the benefits to society are reaped while harm is minimized.
